A dedicated supporter of the N&N Hospitals Charity, who previously raised thousands of pounds, is celebrating after winning the £1,000 top prize in one of the first Big Lotto draws.
Abigael Polley, a Lead Therapy Radiographer at the N&N, was absolutely delighted when she discovered she had landed the prize.
Abigael has long been passionate about improving the experience of cancer patients. In 2020, she set herself the remarkable challenge of cycling 1,000 miles to raise funds for a specialist chair for the Radiotherapy Department. Over two years, she cycled 2,500 miles, raising £5,000.
The fundraising campaign helped pay for a specialist chair used when creating personalised masks for patients undergoing skin cancer treatment.
The masks help keep patients still during radiotherapy and the chair provides a more comfortable option for people with mobility or breathing difficulties.
Abigael's support for the charity did not stop there. Alongside her cycling challenge, she also conquered her fear of heights by abseiling down The Forum in Norwich to raise even more money for patients.
Her efforts inspired donations from colleagues, patients and families, helping fund equipment that continues to benefit patients today.
The Big Lotto win came at the perfect time and will help cover veterinary bills and ongoing treatment for her beloved English Springer Spaniel who has recently faced serious health challenges.
